Eric Crawford, Crawford Farrier Services

Eric’s philosophy is simply summed up as:” No foot, no horse”. That’s why after 17 years of caring for, showing and breeding horses, he has chosen to focus on what he considers the most vulnerable part of the horse.

Eric has been a member of the American Farriers Association since 1998 and graduated from Pacific Coast Horseshoeing School in 2001. He then went on to participate in horseshoeing competitions throughout California and Nevada. He has worked on numerous champion horses in all disciplines.

In addition to his farrier skills, Eric earned a certificate from Colorado State University in Equine Reproduction and has worked as a breeder in both Kentucky and Northern California. He has trained and competed at the regional and national levels in English, Western and Halter.

Eric shares his passion for horses with his 10 year old daughter, Caitlin, who began competing in Halter and Performance at a very young age.

Sheri Brodsky, Equine Nutritionist

A Petaluma resident, Sheri graduated from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo with a degree in Animal Science and did graduate work at UC Davis in Ruminant Nutrition. Sheri has been a member of American Registry of Professional Animal Science for 24 years, and is approved by this body for both equine and ruminant practice.

Sheri has been an independent consultant since 1984, and initially the majority of her clients were dairy farmers, as few horse owners were interested in ration balancing or nutritional consulting. As animal agriculture declined in this area, she began to use the same analytical techniques and expertise to serve the large equine industry and its growing interest in nutrition.  As an independent who does not represent any products, she brings a rare, unbiased source of information to an unregulated world filled with misinformation.

Sheri’s clients have ranged from miniature horses to champion endurance competitors. She has consulted to large and small barns and done contract work for hay, feed and supplement companies. While her objective is to provide information and guidance to promote wellness, she also often works on special need cases. She frequently collaborates with local veterinarians and her 25+ years of hay and forage testing bring an unprecedented level of understanding of western forages to the equation.

Sheri is familiar with almost all generally available equine feeds and supplements and has participated in some of their development. She not only tests Circle Oak Equine hay but has devised the feeding guidelines that we use as a starting point with all of our resident horses. In special needs situations, she performs nutritional profiles for our clients with specific recommendations as to type and quantity of feed.
